In the past it was usually the clothing you chose that was the main focus and what many women would concentrate on. Women typically only owned a a couple of neutral colored dress shoes that would be worn with various outfits. Handbags were similar in that you typically owned a few bags that you rotated during the different seasons to match your neutral shoes.

Many people would do black or brown shoes and bags in the winter and white shoes and bags in the summer. Today those rules no longer apply and accessories have taken the main stage as the outfits have become a bit more neutral. There are various items you can purchase regarding handbags like purse organizers or a purse organizer to help keep you organized all the way to closet hooks to hold your handbags. Shoes have become center stage in addition to where now people shoe shop and then find the outfit afterward to match the shoes.

The style of handbags have changed over the years as trends come and go similar with fashion. There are currently more handbag designers that succeeding than clothing designers. This was unheard of ten years ago. Not only has the prominence of handbags gotten greater but the size of purses has also gotten bigger. Some women carry purses these days that could probably fit seven days worth of clothing in it if they wanted. This is the current fashion trend and will probably look ridiculous in 5 years when you look back on it. The sizes and shapes of handbags have frequently changed over time.

Evening bags used to be covered in sequins with a thin strap but today the trendy leather clutches are a popular evening bag. The trends rotate every 25 years as well with the fringed suede bags of the 70′s hippie time are now seen frequently again in the twenty something group of women.

Shoes are now in the focusof fashion also. The importance of the designer shoe took center stage with the popularity of the HBO show “Sex in the City” . In the beginning scenes of every show, the main character, Carrie is shown window shopping and stops in front of aboutique for shoes viewing a pair of shoes with immense love and admiration no one evercould imagine for an inanimate item. Carrie and her girlfriends often talked about their love of shoes and really put them into the forefront of the fashion world. One thing women often say is that clothing does not always fit especially if you gain weight but shoes always fit. The rules of matching shoes with your purse no longer apply and the more crazy your shoes, the better. Many people now decide to wear a basic white tee and jeans so they can emphasize their shoes and their purses instead. It is no longer simply the clothes but the accessories are a main staple of fashion as well.
