Women Men And Tuxedos
Making incursions into men’s domain by their female counterparts does not raise eyebrows anymore. Women have started generating interest in men’s wears and donning them too. You will find more women rummaging through men’s items, not for their men but for themselves! Nobody is complaining here, but the concepts are changing and preferences are being revamped. If you asked me, I would prefer women to look feminine and men to look like men. In simple words, go back to conventions.
The tuxedo is essentially a male ensemble, worn not long ago in formal and informal get-togethers. It is a jacket, mostly black, worn short with a brown lapel, with two pockets having trendy edges, with one button closed.
If you are passionate about old movies, then certainly you remember the picture of Marlene Dietrich in “Morocco” movie (1928): black tuxedo, tile, white shirt and tie … a look that has seduced both women and men.
Back in the year 1966, Yves Saint Laurent gave a new meaning to women wears, when the tuxedo crept into their wardrobe.
The fashion creators have recreated the tuxedos in many newer varieties. Recently, I happened to see models wearing them with lan on the stages. Those who walked the international arena were Diane Keaton, Madonna, Kate Moss, Jessica Simpson and Ashley Olsen to name a few. After seeing them, I can only infer that the tuxedos are not over-hyped.
Women are not content with just adding a feminine touch to the tuxedos, worn by only men until recently, but they are experimenting with fabrics and feel of the material. Velvet tuxedo takes the cake here in bold shades, followed by a backhand of a different hue complimenting the main shade.
Even if the tuxedo is a fashion piece that finds its place only at night or at a cocktail party, there are designers who have tried to bring it closer to street fashion.
There is no rule which says that tuxedos go with pants only. With experimentation in fabrics and designs occupying the center stage, they are preferred any time of the day. To impress the wearer, an array of accessories is a must that compliment the outfit, in order to win the approval of the onlooker as well as the wearer. Stay with the changing times and stay trendy.
