My phone plan was tampered with, my mail was forwarded to a residence that is not mine, and I’m afraid it will get worse from here. I told the police what happened and I told Victims Services also. But no one will give me leads as to how to proceed with changing my social security number. Does anyone out there have any advice for me?

A collection agency has provided me with an ID Theft Affidavit which has an option that asks if I'm willing to assist in the prosecution of the person committed the fraud. I have no idea who it could have been but it took place in MD and I live in CA. If there is a prosecution, I don't want to be hassled with it. I called the collection agency and they say they will not clear the debt if I do not assist. Can they do that? I don't know the laws related to this stuff. I've been battling this collection agency for the better part of 2 years and it seems they are able to dictate the process without having to be constrained by regulations or good judgement. Can someone please help!?

I'm with you on that one. How can an illegal considered to be in good standing. They have lived and worked here illegally for years. Tax fraud, welfare fraud, stolen IDs, driving without license or ins. How is any of that "in good standing".
Most of the illegals here do not want "a path to citizenship" they just want to stay here and work as long as they can and then go home.
They are using the US for their own gain. It's that simple.

I've recently gotten 2 credit card bills in my name for cards I never applied for nor do I have. I'm on disability and have filed for bankruptcy a few years previous so I couldn't get a card if I wanted one. I'm at a loss for what to do since I can't pay for charges that I didn't make.

I have had my credit card # stolen in the past and have never had a problem with having the charges forgiven. This is $40 extra a year on my premium. Does anyone see any meaningful value with identify theft protection?
