The reason I ask is, I temporarily lost my wallet in the vicinity of my own home. An anonymous neighbor returned it while I wasn't home … the small amount of cash that was in it was gone, but the cards (including my drivers license and social security card) were still in there. It's possible that whoever had it for the night wrote down my numbers somewhere … are there any government or credit agencies (aside from my bank who I already notified & cancelled my ATM card) that I should contact?

I am re-posting this question because YA didn't post it last time for some reason. I am curious how the criminals go about getting your information and using it against you. What are the most common scams and how do I protect myself from them?

Hi, I used my sister and my mom's information to get credit cards and loans and I used their already issued credit cards without their permission. They both checked their credit reports and found out about it.They have both threatened to press charges and are in the process of filing a police report. What criminal charges and punishment am I looking to face currently. Do you think I will serve any jail time? I am in Pennsylvania and under Pennsylvania law.

Can my identity be stolen by just my full name, address, phone number revealed?
Or do they need more like SSN, birthdate or ?
I just want to prevent this from happening, I try to be careful.
I shred documents.
But if my full name, address and phone number is revealed, can my identity be at risk? Just want to make sure

I've recently gotten 2 credit card bills in my name for cards I never applied for nor do I have. I'm on disability and have filed for bankruptcy a few years previous so I couldn't get a card if I wanted one. I'm at a loss for what to do since I can't pay for charges that I didn't make.
